The poor man's Led Zeppelin. If you're a fan of the Flaming Lips and like your music with dashes of Wilco modeled after Pet Sounds and The Soft Bulletin, support this band, hell change the oil in their cars. Through beautifully layered pianos, strings, guitars, and vocals all set to rock solid drum beats, Hojas Rojas strings together quite a tale.

Brooks West

The first guitar Brooks West picked up belonged to his uncle, a wheat farmer in North Dakota. Since then, this Fargo North Dakota native has branched out to the east coast, where he's traded bitter cold for heavy traffic.

The son of a mortician and a school teacher, Brooks has a unique outlook on life that shapes his repertoire. His songs cover subjects ranging from death and destruction to love and hope and even the occasional ballad to office supplies.

Inwood Radio Sickle Cell Bohemia Magnolia Recording Company

Inwood Radio

Hometown: Minneapolis
Genre: Indie Rock
Latest Album: Sickle Cell Bohemia

Inwood Radio formed from the ashes of the seminal rock outfit Six Ways From Sunday. Playing together since 2005, the band's full length follow up to "Once We Were Millionaires" was released on March 7, 2009 under the auspicious title of "Sickle Cell Bohemia".

Their sound lies somewhere between the bouncy pop of seminal Scottish neo-Pop band Orange Juice and Big Ditch Road's alt country middle period. There’s also a certain element of Morrissey’s “sincerer than thou” wail present, but it comes through in the best possible way.

Benjamin Rajkowski - guitar, vocals
Amy Bukstein - bass, vocals
Ted Held - lead guitar, vocals
William Rajkowski - drums

A Long List of Lies Josh Harty Magnolia Recording Company 2008

Josh Harty

Hometown: Madison
Genre: Singer / Songwriter
Latest Album: A Long List of Lies

Josh Harty began playing music in his hometown of Kindred, North Dakota when he was six years old. From the beginning his music was marked by a love of gospel, country, and blues, and over the years Harty’s sound has mellowed into a catalog of original songs that is at once greater than the sum of its parts and most assuredly rooted in its origins.

Backed by a brilliant group of local Madison musicians, Harty has crafted a powerful and celebratory album that exudes the wisdom and contentedness that come with really living and really losing. ‘A Long List of Lies’ is a testament to the beauty of dimly lit bars, broken hearts, and the home that we are all looking for.

Tin Roof Sky The Get-Rites Magnolia Recording Company 2008

The Get-Rites

Hometown: Minneapolis
Genre: Gopel Americana
Latest Album: Tin Roof Sky - 2008

Described as, "masters of Americana music" (Dirty Linen Magazine), "authentic, retrospective and thought provoking" (AmericanaUK), "deserving all the publicity they can get" (Blues Revue Magazine), The Get-Rites are intent on spreading the Good News in song with their unique mixture of old school dirty, back-woods blues and shimmering, sloe-eyed country ballads.

Unable to enlist a record label to help promote their releases, Get-Rites frontman Tom Feldmann formed the Magnolia Recording Company to house artists from various musical spectrums in the effort to be a “Home Between the Cracks” for those who have been unable to find support elsewhere.

Tom Feldmann - guitar, vocals
Jed Germond - pedal steel
Paul Liebenow - upright bass
Jed Staack - drums
